Our Story

Four decades of opportunity in the Hunter

For 45+ years, Novaskill has dedicated itself to helping local communities reach their potential through quality training and employment services. The organisation was founded during the Hunter region’s economic downturn in the early 1980s. Originally established as Hunter Group Apprentice (later Hunter Group Training), it ensured young apprentices could continue trade training despite lacking full-time employment, receiving ongoing training while being hosted with local employers.

Novaskill now operates as one of Australia’s longest operating group training companies, having placed thousands of apprentices and trainees into careers. In 1995, Novaskill became a Registered Training Organisation, expanding into vocational education across multiple sectors. The organisation maintains its focus on community infrastructure, indigenous communities, youth, and long-term job seekers.
