What do I need to be considered?

To be considered for a Trainer and Assessor role with Novaskill, you will generally need:

  • A recognised training and assessment credential, such as the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or another credential recognised under the current RTO Standards.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications and competencies in the industry area you wish to train and assess.
  • Current industry skills, knowledge and experience that reflect contemporary workplace practices.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development to maintain both industry currency and training and assessment skills.

At Novaskill we deliver training across construction, hospitality, community services, business, and leadership and management, so we value trainers who bring recent, real-world industry experience into the learning environment.

Working Towards Your TAE?

If you are an experienced industry professional and are currently working towards a recognised training and assessment qualification, we would still love to hear from you.

Under the 2025 Standards for RTOs, individuals who are actively working towards an approved training and assessment credential may deliver training and contribute to assessment activities while working under the direction of a qualified Trainer and Assessor. They must be enrolled, have commenced their studies, and be making satisfactory progress towards completion. Assessment judgements, however, must be made by a fully qualified assessor.

If you have strong industry experience and a passion for developing others, we may be able to support your transition into the vocational education and training sector while you complete your training and assessment qualification.

What do Novaskill Trainers and Assessors do?

In a nutshell, our trainers and assessors are responsible for the development the knowledge, skills and confidence of students.

A typical day may include:

  • Identifying individual student learning needs and tailoring effective learning strategies
  • Providing guidance and support to student in relation to course content, assessment requirements and training progress
  • Facilitating engaging learning experiences, including workshops, classroom sessions, tutorials, and virtual training sessions
  • Marking assessments and providing constructive, timely feedback
  • Maintaining accurate student records, including course progress, attendance, assessment outcomes and activities undertaken
  • Contributing to the planning, design, and development of learning and assessment materials
  • Undertaking workplace visits to support students on-the-job training and assessment

Our Trainers and Assessors play a key role in ensuring students are supported, engaged, and progressing successfully through their qualification.
